#1 // Shutters

When your exterior is made from brick or stone, finding a color that effortlessly blends in with your existing siding can be tough. Luckily, creamy white paint colors like Greek Villa by Sherwin-Williams ® complement any existing exterior elements.

This airy hue helps lighten and brighten your home’s shutters instantly. It’s especially beautiful when used to offset with dark red brick and a dark brown roof like in the example above. Greek Villa’s welcoming yellow undertone beautifully coordinates with the tones of the brick. It also gives it a creamy finish that sets the shutters apart from the pure white shade used on the trim.

Olympic Mountains paint on columns

#2 // Columns

Covered porches offer additional architectural details and provide a unique opportunity to incorporate other colors into your exterior palette. A milky, off-white shade helps keep the space open and airy while creating a timeless feel.

For the home exterior above, we used Olympic Mountains by Benjamin Moore for the support columns. This offers a more unobstructed-seeming view of the surrounding landscaping and allows the columns to effortlessly blend into the background. To tie the exterior look together, the outdoor furniture also has pops of white for a cohesive and stylish finish.

#3 // Eaves and soffits

While eaves and soffits are often overlooked, they offer an opportunity to think creatively about your color palette. Using a creamy white hue for this architectural element can help draw the eye upward, giving your home the illusion of extra height and pulling the entire exterior color palette together.

In the example above, the eaves and soffits are finished in White Duck by Sherwin-Williams ®. This warm, off-white paint features an LRV of 74. While White Duck has creamy undertones, depending on the direction your home faces and the amount of natural light it receives, it can also appear a bit greige. White Duck with the contrasting Dried Thyme by Sherwin-Williams® is another home exterior paint combination that’s hard to resist.

#4 // Limewashed brick

While painting your exterior a solid, creamy white is always an option,  you can choose from other finishes, too. If you have brick, stucco, or stone siding, don’t overlook limewashing as an alternative that highlights the texture of your existing exterior.

Limewashing is a low-maintenance way to change up your exterior aesthetic. It also offers a more matte, modern finish than you can achieve with paint. Hints of the brick’s original hue will even shine through, creating a one-of-a-kind way to incorporate creamy white hues into your exterior.

#5 // Facade accent wall

If you prefer a darker, moodier vibe for your exterior, don’t worry. You can incorporate creamy white paint colors into your palette. Instead of painting your siding or trim with one of these bright and airy shades, use it to accent one particular area of your home.

In the example above, the majority of the siding is finished in bold Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams, with Sherwin Williams’ Rookwood Brown by accents. But to draw attention to the entryway, the facade around the front door has been finished in Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee. This adds depth and dimension to the exterior. It also draws the eye immediately to this area, creating a natural focal point that makes the exterior feel more welcoming.

We always recommend sampling and testing paint colors before committing. Factors such as natural lighting, undertones, and your property’s fixed elements will have a significant impact on how a color will appear on your exterior. Our friends at Samplize offer extra-large 9 x 14.75 inch peel-and-stick paint samples of the colors we love for exteriors. Order your ‘Real Paint, No Mess’ samples from Samplize here.

#6 // Window trim

Creamy white paint colors are the ideal way to add a contrasting pop to an otherwise all-dark exterior. Are you using earthy hues like Urbane Bronze by Sherwin Williams, dark stone, and wood accents like in the home above? Try incorporating a contrasting color can help make the exterior feel less one-note.

Seapearl by Benjamin Moore for the window trim creates a nice balance between light and dark tones, making the exterior feel timeless. The off-white hue has subtle gray undertones that make it feel warm. Meanwhile, the light reflective value of 77 ensures it doesn’t look too stark against the other deeper tones.

#7 // Two-toned siding

Instead of opting for single-colored siding, why not choose a dual-toned palette instead? Like in the example above, consider combining creamy white paint colors like Olympic Mountains by Benjamin Moore with a darker tone, like Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore. This creates a high-contrast color palette that delivers a big impact.

While the plank siding is finished in a darker hue to complement the black window trim, the brick siding around the base of the home and along the facade is a lighter and brighter shade that pops. This gives the home a modern edge and helps accentuate the beautifully landscaped garden beds.

#8// Allover trim

If you want your creamy white paint colors to be more prominent in your exterior design, consider using your favorite hue for all exterior trim. Because of its versatility, creamy white paint colors are ideal for your exterior trim — no matter if your primary shade is another neutral, a pastel, or a deep and moody hue.

The example above showcases a classic neutral color palette, with Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore as the primary shade. Meanwhile, the decorative trim, eaves and soffits, porch columns, and windows are finished in Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore. This neutral, off-white hue is impressively versatile thanks to its lack of distinctive undertone and LRV of 83.93, making it the perfect option for all-over trim.
