Occasionally, we like to check in with our clients to get their opinion on the color, and now we’re sharing what we’ve learned with you. Here are some exterior paint colors by Sherwin-Williams that earn rave reviews from us and our brick&batten clients.

Snowbound: A True White With a Cool Undertone
When our clients ask for a pure white color that doesn’t lean warm, the choice is simple–We suggest Snowbound by Sherwin-Williams. We love this white’s cool undertones that pair well with accents like a navy door and contrast perfectly with warm tones like a clay tile roof.
One of the many reasons we love Sherwin-Williams is because they conveniently list the paint’s light reflective value (LRV) for each color on the back of their card decks and on their website. Snowbound’s LRV is 83, so it reflects a little less light than other white options. However, this is perfect for homes in extra sunny environments, as some paints with an LRV closer to 100 can look way too blinding during the day.
Repose Gray: A Warm, Subtle Gray
If you adore the simplicity of white paint but you want a color far from stark, Sherwin-Williams’ Repose Gray is a great option. This inviting gray is just light enough that it can almost pass as white, and it’s warmer than most grays. We love how rainy and snowy days make this color look a bit grayer. But when the sun is shining or the leaves are changing, it looks a little more white. Overall, we love a good, versatile color like Repose Gray.
Urbane Bronze: A Rich Gray With Brown Undertones
Urbane Bronze by Sherwin-Williams is a delightfully lavish color, if we do say so ourselves. It’s more than just a gray, it’s a two-in-one neutral that marries gray and brown together. Again, we’re a sucker for a versatile color, and we love how Urbane Bronze looks like charcoal sometimes or even black sometimes, depending on the day. Urbane Bronze looks lovely on homes with natural wood accents, like a cedar fence or walnut door.
Shoji White: Urbane Bronze’s BFF
We thought we’d throw in a little bonus color palette that includes two of our top-rated exterior paint colors by Sherwin-Williams. Shoji White holds its own on our list of favorite Sherwin-Williams colors because it’s the perfect warm blend of beige and gray. However, Urbane Bronze takes it to the next level. If you’re lucky enough to own a home with a dark walnut door, these two colors will highlight this asset. The warm undertones in Shoji White and Urbane Bronze work together harmoniously.
Accessible Beige: Earthy and Warm
Accessible Beige is a universally pleasing exterior home color, so it makes for an especially great choice if you’re preparing your house to sell. This earth tone looks great on all sorts of homes, but we really love how it looks on brick. Perhaps it’s the warm undertones that give a slight nod to the brick’s original color that does it for us. Accessible Beige looks great with charcoal or brown trim, depending on the house.
Black Fox: A Soft Black
Just like with white, it’s super easy to choose a black that is too stark. For this reason, we often suggest Black Fox by Sherwin-Williams if you want to go dark. In fact, you could classify this black as a gray. It’s in the same color family as Repose Gray, but it’s much darker. This color makes a great neutral backdrop for statement accents like red porch curtains or a yellow door. We also love Black Fox for a front door color.
Alabaster: A Warm White
Alabaster by Sherwin-Williams reads as creamy and warm, rather than crisp and clean. This white has an LRV of 82, making it pretty similar to Snowbound in terms of light reflection. But unlike Snowbound, Alabaster definitely has warm undertones. When you pair Alabaster with a dusty blue door and gray shutters, you get the charm of a European cottage.
