Painting Your Brick? Try Romabio.

Are you painting your brick? Try my new find, Romabio.  Painting my own brick house, I’ve researched and researched  the best paints for home and how to paint my exterior.  Recently, I came across another paint option for  your exterior brick: Romabio.  It is one that  definitely caught my attention. After reading Young House Love Blog I did some research.  If you’re considering painting your brick, Romabio is a strong contender for the best paint out there.

Traditionally, experts have not recommended painting brick; however, you know I’m a firm believer if you don’t like it, change it!  You don’t need to live with ugly brick.  Romabio allows moisture in the brick to be released, because it doesn’t seal the surface. Therefore, you won’t have the issues with peeling and cracking that other paint may cause if not prepared correctly.

About Romabio:

Romabio paints are mineral based and made with high quality, natural ingredients that are toxin-free. They are easy to use, affordable, low maintenance. They claim to be durable and long lasting, with a high- UV  and mold resistance.  You have the choice of masonry flat and masonry textured.  Both are a two coat system and don’t need primer!

Colors:

Romabio has specific stock colors they use which are stately and beautiful.  That said, paint can be tinted to your liking. Mineral paints don’t go super dark because of the natural minerals in the paint.  Also, dark colors have a tendency to fade with the outside sun and environmental elements.  The company guarantees durability, easy maintenance, and a 20 year warranty, so they choose colors to make this happen.

Paint Finishes:

There are two finishes with Romabio.  There is a Masonry Flat and Masonry Textured.

Masonry Flat– The Masonry Flat finish has a solid flat finish that is extremely durable.  If you don’t see the color in the fan deck you want, the paint can be tinted.

Masonry Textured–  Textured will look slightly different than Flat because it has aggregate.  On rough brick, it will create a smooth finish, but on smooth brick it will create a textured appearance.  Masonry Textured paint is durable and can be tinted.

Both Flat and Textured are a two coat system for unpainted, absorbent brick and stone.  For other surfaces, you must use BioGrip Micro Primer for a first coat primer, then you’ll paint with 1-2 coats of Masonry Flat or Textured depending on what you prefer.

Application Tips:

Romabio is easy to use; however we always recommend consulting a professional before doing any work.  A sprayer, roller or masonry paint brush can apply masonry paints.  And for all Romabio masonry paints, they suggest dampening the surface prior to applying the paint.

We always recommend sampling and testing paint colors before committing. Factors such as natural lighting, undertones, and your property’s fixed elements will have a significant impact on how a color will appear on your exterior. Our friends at Samplize offer extra-large 9 x 14.75 inch peel-and-stick paint samples of the colors we love for exteriors. Order your ‘Real Paint, No Mess’ samples from Samplize here.

IF YOU’RE STILL NOT CONVINCED, THERE ARE OTHER REASONS TO USE ROMABIO PAINTS:

♦  High pH makes the paint alkaline, so it’s naturally mold-resistant.

♦  CAN be pressure-washed using a low pressure – just like you would on any other painted surface.

♦  20-year warranty, meaning you shouldn’t have to repaint for at least 20 years!  Guaranteed to never chip or peel.

♦  All of Romabio’s products are sold concentrated and are completely non-toxic. Traditional acrylic paints have water already in the mixture.  They need chemicals in them to stabilize and add shelf life.

So, if you’re considering painting your brick exterior, try Romabio. Overall, there are different paints available for masonry and different ideas on how to paint your home’s exterior.  Do your research! Consult a professional home exterior designer to help you find the perfect color.  Then, consult a professional to find the correct paint for your home’s cladding and needs.  Romabio almost seems too good to be true!
