New Stucco Siding for California Home

After viewing several before and after photos on our website, Aleta R. enlisted our services to see what ideas we had for her dated California home.

Aleta answered a few brief questions and submitted a photo of her home, then we got to work creating a design with new stucco siding, painted brick, and more. Keep reading to see what we came up with, learn how Aleta brought our vision to life, and witness the transformation from start to finish.

The before

Aleta felt her home exterior was dated and wanted to replace the stucco and paint the brick to make it look more current. She was also open to replacing other design elements, including the front door, garage doors, gutters, light fixtures, columns, and railings, but wanted to keep the driveway and walkway the same.

The design

Our designers provided Aleta with two color palette options for her home exterior. The first (above) has Sherwin Williams’ Iron Ore on the brick and stucco with Tricorn Black, also by Sherwin Williams, on the trim, soffit, and door. We also incorporated sections of Woodtone siding rendered in Black Canyon.

The second option features Benjamin Moore’s Temptation on the brick and stucco, with Black, also by Benjamin Moore, on the trim, soffit, and door. The Woodtone siding in this version is rendered in Midnight Tide.

Both designs include a contemporary front door and garage doors with a pergola overtop, light ledgestone siding, wood columns in the entry area, new light fixtures, and planters

Aleta used her free revision to see another color treatment on her exterior. This time, we used Sherwin Williams’ Worldy Gray on the brick and stucco, Black on the trim, soffit, and door, and Black Canyon on the Woodtone siding.

We always recommend sampling and testing paint colors before committing. Factors such as natural lighting, undertones, and your property’s fixed elements will have a significant impact on how a color will appear on your exterior. Our friends at Samplize offer extra-large 9 x 14.75 inch peel-and-stick paint samples of the colors we love for exteriors. Order your ‘Real Paint, No Mess’ samples from Samplize here.

The process

Aleta hired a contractor to do the renovation work and said the process took about a year to complete because she had the entire exterior updated instead of just the front and took a few vacations throughout the year. She said our design deliverable was “very helpful” throughout the process.

The actual after

Aleta used the paint color options we provided as a guide and implemented many of our other design recommendations as well. She replaced her old stucco with colored stucco from Omega Products International and used a combination of Benjamin Moore’s Soft Chamois, Temptation, and Black on the rest of the home.

When asked what her favorite part of the transformation is, Aleta told us, “The paneling around the front door and the gates. The wood adds a warm and natural feel. It’s a lovely contrast.”

New stucco siding, painted brick, and other contemporary design elements took this home from dated to striking. We loved seeing how Aleta interpreted our design and brought it to life in her own unique way.

We love the home and are so happy with it. We do receive many compliments, and it brings us much pleasure each time we pull in the driveway.
