#1 // AllModern Metallic Series Metal Outdoor Pot Planter
First on our list is this distinctive planter from AllModern. It’s handmade from steel and stands up to the elements, developing a (welcomed!) weathered patina over time. Shaped like a bowl and available in two sizes, this minimalist planter is a great choice for contemporary exteriors. We love it alongside industrial materials like iron and concrete. You can put this planter directly on the ground, but, because of its low profile, you’ll want to be sure there is plenty of space around it for guests, children, and pets to step around it without knocking it over (though it is a hefty 14 lbs alone so, with dirt and plants in it, should be fairly sturdy). With that in mind, it might be best suited set up, either atop a wide retaining wall or a deep plant stand.
#2 // AllModern Enderby Ceramic Outdoor Pot Planter
Next, this stoneware planter is also from AllModern. Its simple, organic feel gives it versatility. Because it has a strong Old World aesthetic, we can picture it on the front porch of a classic cottage, a Mediterranean-style home, or a place on the sea.
#3 // Perigold Delano Pot Planter
This planter also has myriad uses, in part because it comes in three colors — Caviar Black (pictured), Mocha, and Old Bronze — and four different sizes. It’s a great piece for a Southwestern abode or for a homeowner trying to channel that clean desert look. Our designers love to visualize it filled with succulents, agave, or aloe.
#4 // Joss & Main Neecy Outdoor Pot Planter
Joss & Main’s trendy furniture line has strong coastal energy, and this planter set fits the bill. It comes in a set of two, with pots of slightly different sizes and stands of different heights, giving your front porch some variety and layers without having to seek out a mix-and-match pairing yourself.
#5 // Gracie Oaks Armanno 3-Piece Galvanized Metal Pot Planter Set
As with the example above, this front porch planter idea comes in a set… but this one is a set of three! Perfect for a rustic or modern farmhouse style front porch aesthetic, these planters were inspired by French country gardens. You could display all three of them together or split them up, perhaps with the largest on its own on one side of your front door and the two smaller planters on the other side. They’re weather- and rust-resistant; however, they nest inside each other for convenient storage if you want to tuck them away during cold weather months.

This concrete pot from McGee & Co has a warm tan hue to it, which will give your front porch an earthy vibe. A great choice for fans of rustic or coastal style.

Strong and sturdy yet lightweight, the Veradek taper planter is made of a weather-resistant material so you can leave it outdoors, all year round. We included a handful of their products on this list because we love how they marry form with function. Additionally, if you have a larger front porch, you can place a few of the various shapes to bring an elevated feel (and more greenery or flowers!) to your space. This style is an excellent choice for smaller front porches or even porticos. It comes in black (pictured), espresso, light gray, and white.
#10 // Veradek Metallic Series Galvanized Steel Medium Indoor/Outdoor Span Planter
Next, Veradek’s steel span planter is a lovely choice for transitional or contemporary homes. The material is scratch-resistant and comes in gray (pictured) and black. We love its functional qualities: a removable insert shelf and optional drainage hole and riser feet. There are three different size options, all rectangular, so be sure to measure and check which would suit your front porch best.

Similar in shape to the planter above, this one is lower slung. It’s about half as tall as the biggest version of the planter above and comes in three different widths as well as black (pictured) and gray options.

It comes in a set of two, so is perfect for creating symmetry by flanking your front door. We’ve long been fans of Corten steel planters, and this is one of our favorites. They are durable, weather-resistant, and develop a lovely patina finish over time. These statement pieces are recommended for wide, open porches, where they can be seen clearly from the street.
#15 // D’vine Dev Modern White Plants Pot Cylinder Planter with Heavy Duty Stand
The main difference between the D’Vine Dev stand and the other planter stands above is this option is made of iron vs. wood, giving it more of an industrial look. The pot comes in four different sizes and in both white (pictured) and black.

Our designers suggest placing this posh, modern planter on the front porch of a contemporary coastal home. It has a built-in drainage hole and is frost-resistant; however, if you want to bring it indoors during the cooler weather months, it comes with a drainage plug. This gives you more flexibility with plant choice (i.e., you aren’t confined to filling it with annuals).

A lovely transitional-style planter made of lightweight fiberstone, this piece comes in silver (pictured), antique white, and black (and a terracotta pink, which was out of stock at the time of publishing). Plus, there are a handful of different size options. The smaller sizes are perfect for a cactus, while the larger sizes would work well for an olive or lemon tree.
