#1 // Breeze Block Wall

Breeze block walls are one of our favorite patio enclosure ideas. This functional design element is the perfect way to bring style to your enclosed patio. In this rendering, the breeze block half-wall draws the eye to the patio and provides an interesting geometric pattern that complements the other hardscape textures.

#2 // Create a Separate Zone

This home’s backyard hardscape is grandiose and functional, and it also highlights one of our favorite patio enclosure ideas. With a pool and multiple outdoor seating areas, the stone retaining wall separates the firepit lounge section from the rest of the hardscape.

#3 // Matching Materials

The half-wall enclosing this patio uses the same cultured stone shown on the home’s exterior. To make the design more dynamic, we also added iron to the fence and gate, which coordinates with the black light fixtures, porch columns, and front and garage doors.

#4 // Use a Retaining Wall

Our designers have plenty of patio enclosure ideas that are both functional and ideal for elevating curb appeal. A wood retaining wall encloses this patio and meshes with other wood accents for a cohesive design. Not only does the wall work aesthetically, but it also prevents flooding and erosion, protecting the area from nature’s elements.

#5 // Industrial Elements

If you’re on the hunt for modern patio enclosure ideas, it’s important to choose the right materials. Above, our designers tapped into an industrial aesthetic by using short concrete walls and an iron gate to access the patio, which is accentuated by the home’s wood cladding. Since the rest of the exterior is rendered in gray brick, the wood draws the eye to the outdoor lounge space.

#6 // A More Open Layout

You don’t have to enclose your patio entirely to define your space. For this home, our designers left the layout more open, closing one side of the patio in with a short wall. This element includes built-in planters on top, allowing for more greenery amongst the hard surfaces. Planters, furniture, and other accents make the space even more inviting.

#7 // Maximize Comfort

Patios are the perfect place to relax and unwind, and the outdoor seating isn’t the only way our designers emphasized comfort for this patio. The screen wall promotes air flow while offering some privacy, creating a pleasant outdoor lounging experience.

#8 // Bring in Some Warmth

This covered patio is enclosed without being confined. The space has walls on each side with an open front. The pergola is a great place for training vines, offers some protection from overhead sunlight, and maximizes airflow. The patio mingles with the entryway for a layout that is seamless and welcoming.

#9 // Keep It Private

If a private patio is what you’re after, enclosing the space is the way to go. The concrete walls and black fence shown here create a visual barrier, so pedestrians can’t see the patio from the sidewalk or street.

#10 // Embrace the Entryway

Patio enclosure ideas often keep the entryway and patio separate, but this design marries the two spaces. The open layout makes this inviting area ideal for hanging out, outside.
