Architectural Lighting

Architectural lighting includes sconces, pendants, and post lighting, etc. You should choose lighting that  goes with the design of the home.  Oftentimes, clients will opt for a more transitional style that can work in different settings.  Subsequently, they  can be traditional while still having clean, modern lines.  Furthermore, you should also consider the size and type of glow the light will emit.  Most often, home owners are looking for a warm light as opposed to a cooler, white light.

A Craftsman house will command a very different light than a midcentury modern.  Moreover, lighting is a distinguishing characteristic and when used appropriately can lift your home’s style.  In addition to picking the correct light for your home’s exterior, you also need to pay close attention to how you mount the fixture.  This is incredibly important to how the light will perform in your space.

Landscape Lighting

Landscape lighting is a different beast.  It can transform your property and add new levels of interest and beauty.  Unlike architectural lighting, you should not see landscape lighting, you should feel it. This is what makes landscape lighting magical.  The client can achieve this aesthetic  with a mix of downlighting and uplighting creating a natural environment.  “Moonlighting” which means mounting lights in trees high above the desired area to illuminate.  Consequently, light originating from the trees sets a soft glow on the yard that washes over without highlighting any one particular thing.  Beautiful.
