Painted Brick House Exterior Transformation

When renovating her brick home, Charlene L. was ready to ditch its red brick and retro vibes in favor of a more modern look. With so many details to decide upon, like choosing paint colors, selecting finishes, and adding decorative accents like house numbers and front porch furniture, she knew she needed to bring in the experts at brick&batten to help her achieve the on-trend exterior she wanted.

After consulting with our team, Charlene discovered the perfect combination of paint colors and exterior details to transform her home from plain, 1970s red brick to an eye-catching, painted brick house.

The before

Charlene’s single-story brick home had a distinctly ’70s feel that she was ready to upgrade. Classic red brick, off-white shutters, and a white screen door didn’t do much for her home’s curb appeal. She needed expert help to choose exterior colors and finishes that would make her home feel more modern.

The design

Partnering with brick&batten allowed Charlene to visualize exactly what her home’s new exterior could look like. After a survey and consultation with our design experts, Charlene received a comprehensive plan to overhaul her exterior.

I wanted to see a visual of the plan for the house. brick&batten was so easy to work with. The survey and sending pics of styles we liked made the process go so well. Everything they recommended was very doable.

To make a big impact, our designers created a brand new color palette for Charlene’s home: Alabaster by Sherwin Williams for the brick and Black by Benjamin Moore for the trim and window frames. Black metal decorative accents like lights and house numbers enhanced her custom design.  The final details were a warm wood finish for the front door and support beams.

When I got the virtual pictures from brick&batten, I saw that what I thought this small ‘70s house could become is actually a reality and very achievable.

We always recommend sampling and testing paint colors before committing. Factors such as natural lighting, undertones, and your property’s fixed elements will have a significant impact on how a color will appear on your exterior. Our friends at Samplize offer extra-large 9 x 14.75 inch peel-and-stick paint samples of the colors we love for exteriors. Order your ‘Real Paint, No Mess’ samples from Samplize here.

The process

Charlene hired a local painter and woodworker to help bring her brick&batten-designed exterior to life. After interviewing her team and sharing the design deliverable, they closely reviewed the plan to ensure it matched every detail outlined by our experts.

After about four months, Charlene’s front exterior was complete, and her team successfully helped forgo her home’s dated look in favor of a sleek, modern style.

The actual after

The exterior of Charlene’s newly completed home transformed her former red brick home into a crisp, white brick sanctuary with unmatched curb appeal.

We love the outcome. We felt the home had a mid-century modern vibe, and brick&batten helped bring that to life. We’ve carried the MCM style into decorating the inside as well. We have had so many compliments on the home.
